Texas Rangers righthanded reliever Luke Jackson will not throw for the next two weeks due to a stress reaction in his back, according to the beat guys on Twitter.
Jackson, 24, moved to the bullpen last season, and made his major league debut with Texas in the second half of the season, putting up a 4.26 ERA in 6.1 IP, though Jeff Banister's reluctance to use him led to Rangers fans on Twitter to ask, #CanLukePitchNow when games would be out of reach.
Jackson was expected to start the season at AAA Round Rock, refining his game and providing the Rangers (whose major league bullpen, as of right now, appears to be largely in place) with depth for later in the season. Jackson will, I'm guessing, start the season on the disabled list, and could end up being put on the 60 day d.l. to start the year in order to create a 40 man roster spot.
