Hanser Alberto has made the Texas Rangers' Opening Day roster as a utility infielder, according to T.R. Sullivan on Twitter, who says Alberto has been informed of the decision. Alberto is already on the 40 man roster, so no 40 man roster move will be necessary.
Alberto was vying with Pedro Ciriaco for the utility infielder job. Ciriaco apparently could possibly still make the team, as a pinch runner/general backup type, although it seems unlikely he would stick at this point, unless the Rangers are just going to carry Alberto until the fifth game of the season, when he would be optioned so the Rangers could add their fifth starter to the roster.
