The Texas Rangers have signed righthanded pitcher Burke Badenhop to a minor league contract, per John Blake on Twitter.
Badenhop, 33, was originally drafted by the Detroit Tigers in 2005, and was sent to the (then) Florida Marlins in 2007 as part of the Miguel Cabrera/Dontrelle Willis trade. Badenhop pitched out of the Marlins' pen from 2008-2011, and since then has spent a year with the Rays, a year with the Brewers, a year with the BoSox, and a year with the Reds. Badenhop put up a 3.93 ERA in 68 games for the Reds last season with a 3.74 FIP and 36 Ks against 20 walks in 66.1 IP.
Badenhop was in camp with the Washington Nationals this spring. He will, I am guessing, head to AAA Round Rock to provide the Express with an extra bullpen arm.
