The new Fangraphs prospect guy, Dan Farnsworth, has been releasing rankings of the prospects on each MLB team, and today has released his rankings of the Texas Rangers prospects.
Farnsworth's rankings have been fairly idiosyncratic thusfar, and that trend continues with the Rangers. Lewis Brinson is #1, which isn't surprising, but Dillon Tate is second on his list, followed by Nomar Mazara and Luis Ortiz. Joey Gallo only checks in at #5. Pretty much every ranking I've seen this offseason has Brinson, Mazara and Gallo in some order, followed by Tate and Ortiz in some order. I don't think I've seen anyone have either pitcher above Mazara or Gallo.
Ronald Guzman, meanwhile, checks in at #7, with Ariel Jurado at #8. Farnsworth identifies those two as "[p]erhaps the biggest surprises" on the list, although I find the Mazara and Gallo placements more eye-opening, personally.
In any case, check out the list, and weigh in with your thoughts...
