Andrew Faulkner recalled, Anthony Ranaudo optioned

The Rangers have recalled lefty reliever Andrew Faulkner, and have optioned righty pitcher Anthony Ranaudo

The Texas Rangers have recalled lefthanded reliever Andrew Faulkner from AAA Round Rock.  To replace him on the 25 man roster, the Rangers have optioned righthanded pitcher Anthony Ranaudo.

Ranaudo had been called up to give the Rangers a long man, and while the Rangers won both of his appearances, he wasn't effective in either.  Last night, he needed 47 pitches to go just 1.1 IP, walking 5 batters and allowing 5 runs.  With both Ranaudo and Alex Claudio throwing a lot of innings yesterday, and Cesar Ramos pitching the night before, you had to figure the Rangers would get an extra arm up for today's game, and that Ranaudo was a likely 25 man roster casualty.

Meanwhile, Faulkner is back up.  He started the season in the majors, appearing in 5 games with an 8.31 ERA and 3 home runs allowed.  He has made five appearances for Round Rock, most recently on May 6, and has allowed a single run in 6.1 IP, with 6 Ks and 4 walks.
