Let's just say the 9th inning didn't go as planned. Neither did the 10th inning as Drew Stubbs hit a walk-off home run to the surprise of literally everyone. It is the Rangers first walk-off and first extra innings win of the season.
In other news:
The Rangers went 21 months without hitting a grand slam. A baby born when Rougned Odor hit a grand slam for the Rangers in August of 2014 would have begun talking when Bobby Wilson hit the grand slam in Detroit last Sunday. Nearly four Marvel movies were released between now and then.
With that in mind...
In the last week, Bobby Wilson his hit two grand slams. What?
Player of the Game: Hard to argue with the guy who hit the second grand slam in the last week but how about Colby Lewis? Colby went seven innings tonight, allowed his customary solo home run, another run after some sloppy defense in the 5th, and then shut down the Blue Jays with six strikeouts to zero walks.
Colby's gone at least seven innings in each of his last four starts, has gone at least six innings in every start this season, and has allowed just seven runs in the month of May. With his performance tonight, Colby dropped his 2016 ERA to 3.12. All this from a guy with a bionic body making $6 million while being totally, endlessly devoted to being a Texas Ranger.
It's a damn, heck shame that he didn't get the win.
Up Next: The Rangers look to finish off this series against the Blue Jays with a series win tomorrow afternoon. Cesar Ramos makes the spot start for Texas against RHP Aaron Sanchez of Toronto. First pitch is scheduled for 2:05 pm CT.
