With Shin-Soo Choo on the disabled list and Drew Stubbs sidelined due to a sprained toe, the Rangers are in need of an extra outfielder, and have filled the gap by purchasing the contract of Jared Hoying from AAA Round Rock. No word yet on the move to open up a 40 man roster spot for Hoying.
Hoying, who turned 27 last week, was a 10th round pick of the Rangers in the 2010 draft. The lefthanded hitter is a true center fielder who is in his fourth season at AAA Round Rock. He's taken significantly strides offensively this year, and has a .319/.409/.550 slash line so far this year in the PCL. He is starting for the Rangers in left field today.
The lineup:
Odor -- 2B
Desmond -- CF
Prince -- DH
Beltre -- 3B
Moreland -- 1B
Elvis -- SS
Mazara -- RF
Hoying -- LF
Wilson -- C
Derek Holland is on the mound.
