Rougned Odor suspension reduced to 7 games

Texas Rangers second baseman Rougned Odor had his suspension reduced from 8 games to 7 games, per reports

Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

The suspension of Texas Rangers second baseman Rougned Odor has been reduced from 8 games to 7 games, according to multiple reports this afternoon.

Odor was originally suspended for 8 games for his role in a bench-clearing brawl between the Rangers and Toronto Blue Jays, which was highlighted by Odor connecting with a solid right to the jaw of Toronto's Jose Bautista.  Odor appealed the suspension, and that appeal was heard on Tuesday.  With the appeal resolved, Odor will begin serving the suspension on Friday, when the Rangers play their next game.

The Rangers don't get to replace Odor on the active roster, so they will be playing short-handed over the next week.  Jurickson Profar is expected to be called up to replace Odor on the 25 man roster, and it is anticipated that Joey Gallo will be optioned to AAA Round Rock to make room for Profar.  The Rangers will have to make another roster move on Saturday, when Yu Darvish is activated from the disabled list.
