Joey Gallo, minor league third baseman for the Round Rock Express, will miss the next 3-4 weeks due to a strained left groin, per the beat guys on Twitter. Gallo apparently had an MRI that revealed the extent of the injury.
That's bad news for Gallo, who was off to a great start at AAA Round Rock this year. Gallo is hitting .254/.400/.642 and, perhaps most importantly, has just 21 Ks in 85 plate appearances. If there's a positive aspect of this, it is that the Rangers are not, right now, in a position where they need Gallo at the major league level, and thus Gallo can get healthy and get back to Round Rock and get in another groove.
