The latest news and notes on the defending AL West Champion Texas Rangers

Good morning. Pretty nice weekend for the Rangers. They got Yu Darvish back. He was good. They returned to their rightful place atop the AL West. They also won a series against a hot and good Pirates team. Make it eight straight home series wins for Texas.

Levi Weaver recaps the Rangers' 6-2 series-clinching victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates with Jeff Banister grabbing a series win against Clint Hurdle and his old crew.

Evan Grant writes that Prince Fielder and Mitch Moreland were the hitting stars of the game as the Rangers hope the two have finally figured things out.

Stefan Stevenson has his reactions to the Rangers win which includes a note on David Freese of all people having a nice moment with Matt Bush yesterday. By golly, I liked David Freese for a split second there after reading this.

Ryan Posner writes that Prince Fielder knows he still has work to do even after he broke a 34-game homerless drought.

Stevenson's notes include one on Ian Desmond being a Good Dude by raising money and awareness to help folks with neurofibromatosis.

As Grant writes, the Rangers have shipped Patrick Kivlehan back to Seattle for cash or a PTBNL (but probably cash) as the Leonys Martin/Tom Wilhelmsen continues to look like a stinker for Texas.

MLB.com's Shane Jackson previews tonight's opener between the Rangers and Indians as Ohio native Derek Holland faces Texas native Josh Tomlin.

Finally, T.R. Sullivan writes that Ryan Rua gets to live the dream of playing in the stadium he grew up going to as a kid as he returns to Cleveland a big leaguer.

Have a nice Memorial day!
