Brett Nicholas optioned, Bobby Wilson activated

The Texas Rangers have added catcher Bobby Wilson, who the team acquired yesterday via trade, to the active 25 man roster.  To make room for Wilson, the team has optioned catcher Brett Nicholas to AAA Round Rock.

This was the obvious move, given that Bryan Holaday, the other catcher, is out of options, and optioning Nicholas allows the Rangers to keep all three catchers in the organization.  However, Jon Daniels spoke yesterday about the possibility of the team keeping three catchers on the active roster, so it didn't appear to be a slam-dunk that Nicholas would be the one to go.

Nicholas, 27, has a .257/.333/.543 slash line in 39 plate appearances in what has been his first season in the majors.
