Texas Rangers draft:  Baseball America has a new mock draft up for the first round of the MLB draft, which will be held from June 9-11, 2016.  The Rangers lost their first round pick when they signed Ian Desmond, but received a compensatory pick at #30 for the loss of Yovani Gallardo.

At #30, BA has the Rangers taking Georgia high school outfielder Taylor Trammell.  That's the guy who, when I was looking over the scouting reports of the guys projected to be available and taken at that range, screamed "Texas Rangers draft pick" to me.

The reports on Trammell are that he's projectable and athletic, having played football as well as baseball before shifting his focus to just baseball in the last year.  He's a lefty hitter and thrower, is fast, has good bat speed, needs work on his swing, and as thought to have just enough arm strength to stick in center field.  He's exactly the type of player we see the Rangers targeting in the draft the past few years, and so it makes sense BA would mock him to Texas.
