Yu Darvish news: Darvish expected to start Monday

Despite leaving his last start early with neck soreness, Yu Darvish is expected to start Monday

Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

Yu Darvish news:  Texas Rangers pitcher Yu Darvish left his start Wednesday against the Astros early due to what was initially described as shoulder soreness, but which Darvish said after the game was neck soreness.  There were initially some concerns about whether Darvish might miss a start or land on the d.l., but the beats are all indicating Darvish had a bullpen session yesterday and is slated to make his regularly scheduled start on Monday.

The Rangers' ace missed all of 2015 and the first part of 2016 after undergoing Tommy John surgery.  In three starts spanning 15.2 IP since being activated from the disabled list, Yu has struck out 19, walked 6, and has a 2.87 ERA with a 2.68 FIP.  The Rangers have limited his pitch count so far, although those restrictions are expected to loosen as the season goes on.
