The Texas Rangers have announced that lefthander Cesar Ramos will start tomorrow in Oakland, in place of Yu Darvish, who is missing his start tomorrow due to neck and shoulder soreness. There was a certain amount of intrigue in advance of this announcement, as both Kyle Lohse and Connor Sadzeck were pulled from their scheduled starts today at ÀÀA and AA, respectively, but as expected, Ramos, who has made three starts already this year, is getting the nod.
There seems to be an expectation that Sadzeck will, however, be promoted tomorrow, in order to give the Rangers a fresh arm in the bullpen behind Ramos. It isn't clear as to how a 25 man roster spot would be cleared, although Texas could opt to put Yu Darvish or Adrian Beltre on the disabled list, or drop one of the backup catchers. Further complicating matters is that Shin-Soo Choo is supposed to be activated tomorrow, which would also necessitate a 25 man roster spot being opened up.
