The Texas Rangers have signed lefthanded relief pitcher Neal Cotts to a minor league contract, per John Blake on Twitter. Cotts will be assigned to ÀÀA Round Rock.
Cotts, 36, has been signed and released by the Astros, Angels and Yankees this season. Cotts spent 2013 and 2014 with the Rangers, putting up a 2.84 ERA in 123 innings. With the Rangers being short on lefthanded relief options right now in the majors, other than Jake Diekman, if Cotts looks capable in Round Rock, he could end up as a middle relief option for Texas in the next few weeks.
