Seattle Mariners sign Tom Wilhelmsen

Bringing things full circle, the Seattle Mariners have signed former Texas Rangers pitcher Tom Wilhelmsen

The Seattle Mariners have signed former Texas Rangers reliever Tom Wilhelmsen, according to reports on the Tweetbox.

This is kind of interesting in no small part because the M's, of course, traded Wilhelmsen to Texas in the first place, along with Patrick Kivlehan and James Jones, in exchange for Leonys Martin and Anthony Bass.  The Rangers designated Kivlehan for assignment last month and ended up trading him back to Seattle, and then lost Wilhelmsen when they removed him from the 40 man roster and he refused an outright assignment.  Jones was non-tendered in the offseason, then signed to a minor league deal, and is currently at AAA Round Rock.  Bass was released so he could go pitch in Japan.

The M's have signed Wilhelmsen to a major league deal, are adding him to the 25 man roster, and then will run him through revocable waivers for the purposes of optioning him, according to Bob Dutton.
