47-26 - Rangers tie Cubs for most wins in baseball with defeat of Reds

Texas splits series with pesky Reds to win 47th game

Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

The Rangers won and avoided the embarrassment of getting swept by the Reds. I'm too sad about Colby Lewis to recap.

Of note, however, the Rangers are just a game and a half behind the Cubs for best record in baseball and are tied with Chicago for the most wins with 47. Texas hasn't lost consecutive games since May 17-18.

Player of the Game: With all the news regarding the injuries to members of the Rangers' rotation tonight, it was good to see Cole Hamels go out there and give the Rangers a solid start and another win.

Up Next: The Rangers have a well-earned off day tomorrow before starting a three-game series against the Boston Red Sox. Nick Martinez will pitch Friday's opener against LHP David Price of Boston. First pitch from Arlington is scheduled for 7:05 pm CT.
