Texas Rangers rumors: Yu Darvish, the Texas Ranger starting pitcher currently on the disabled list with shoulder discomfort, threw a 30 pitch bullpen session today, and the Texas Rangers website indicates that the team hopes Darvish will be back before the All Star Break.
Yu is scheduled to throw in a simulated game on Wednesday, and based on the quotes from Texas Rangers pitching coach Doug Brocail, how Yu feels after that will likely dictate the course of action. If, after the simulated game, the feeling is that he's ready to return to action, it would potentially allow Darvish to return to action in Boston on Monday, July 4.
Darvish missed all of 2015, and the early part of 2016, after undergoing Tommy John surgery last March. Yu made three starts in the majors this season, allowing 5 runs total, before going back on the d.l. due to shoulder discomfort. While the Rangers will be cautious with Darvish, the fact that Nick Martinez and Chi Chi Gonzalez are both currently in the rotation will no doubt have the team wanting to see their ace back in action as quickly as possible.
