Texas Rangers pitcher Yu Darvish is scheduled to be activated from the disabled list on Saturday so that he can start for the Rangers that day against the Chicago Cubs.
Darvish made a couple of rehab starts for the Frisco Roughriders after landing on the disabled list due to shoulder stiffness last month. Darvish started the season on the d.l. as he recuperated from Tommy John surgery, and had made three starts in the majors before the shoulder issue sidelined him again.
The Rangers have slated Martin Perez to start the series opener in Chicago on Friday, with Darvish pitching Saturday and Cole Hamels on Sunday. Presumably, A.J. Griffin will start against the Angels on Monday once the Rangers travel to Los Angeles to start a three game series there, though "TBA" is listed currently for Monday and Tuesday's starts. It remains to be seen whether Kyle Lohse will stay in the rotation as the fifth starter, or if someone else will end up taking his spot.
