Keone Kela activated, Jake Diekman to d.l.

New, comments

The Rangers have activated Keone Kela from the disabled list, and have placed Jake Diekman on the disabled list

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Good news:  Keone Kela, the Texas Rangers' flamethrowing righty reliever who has been on the shelf for the past couple of months after elbow surgery, has been activated from the disabled list.  Yay!

Bad news:  Jake Diekman, Texas Rangers setup man and the only effective lefty in the pen right now, has been placed on the disabled list with a "lacerated left index finger."  Boo!

Apparently, the injury to Diekman came when he tried to remove a broken souvenir beer mug from "Cheers" from his suitcase.  So, yeah...

In any case, Diekman is eligible to return on July 21, and it sounds like he is expected to be back around then, and there's worse things than missing a week of time, I guess.

To make room for Kela on the 40 man roster -- since he had previously been on the 60 day d.l. -- Derek Holland has been transferred to the 60 day d.l.
