55-40 - Déjà vu as pitching once again crumbles with lead in Anaheim

New, comments

The Rangers once again used Kyle Lohse as a starting pitcher in 2016 and, surprise, it didn't work out

Kelvin Kuo-USA TODAY Sports

Remember when Albert Pujols hit three dongs off the Rangers in Game 3 of the 2011 World Series? I do. I was there. Funny, the Cardinals starter that night was Kyle Lohse.

Tonight, Lohse, in his second and hopefully final start as a Texas Ranger gave up two, three run home runs to Pujols to erase leads of 3-0 and 5-4 and pin yet another loss on the Rangers as a starter failed the second time through the order and got obliterated the third time through.

Player of the Game: Ian Desmond put a quick end to his post-All-Star break slump by going 3 for 4 with a dinger (and just missed a game-tying second dong in the 8th) and a stolen base. That's a good thing thing for Texas as Desmond carried the team in the first half. Additionally, Robinson Chirinos hit two home runs off Tim Lincecum and he's pretty good and no the Rangers shouldn't give up half their Frisco roster for Jonathan Lucroy.

Up Next: Someone other than Cole Hamels pitches for the Rangers and so it probably won't be pretty.
