There is some good news and some sad, but not surprising, news on the injury front today.
Bad news first -- Prince Fielder is going to have neck surgery on Friday for "herniation of C4/C5 disc" on Friday, per John Blake on Twitter. That's consistent with what was expected to happen, and so this is just confirmation, but it does appear Prince is done for the season, and after two neck surgeries in three years, there would seem to be some doubt about whether he'll be capable of continuing to play.
On the good news side, the beat guys on Twitter say that Colby Lewis is reporting that he feels good and expects to be back the last week of August after two or three rehab starts. Colby is eligible to be activated from the disabled list on August 21, and though it sounds like he won't be quite ready to come off the d.l. then, he should hopefully be ready very soon thereafter.
