Yu Darvish rehab start: Texas Rangers starting pitcher Yu Darvish threw 42 pitches over 2 innings for the Frisco Roughriders in a rehab start tonight. Darvish faced 11 batters, striking out 5, walking 3 and allowing a pair of hits. He was scheduled for 3 innings or 45 pitches, and along with the two full innings he threw, he pitched to the first batter of the third inning.
Darvish has been on the disabled list due to shoulder soreness after missing all of last season and the first part of this season due to Tommy John surgery. Darvish made three starts for the Rangers post-TJS before the shoulder issue put him back on the d.l.
Theoretically, Darvish could be activated and start Saturday at home against the Twins, in place of Nick Martinez. More likely, he'll get another rehab start, and then be activated (and re-join the rotation) for the first series after the All Star Break.
