Newly acquired Texas Rangers Jonathan Lucroy and Carlos Beltran will report to the team and be added to the active roster tomorrow, according to Jon Daniels in a press conference this afternoon. Joey Gallo is being optioned to AAA Round Rock to make room on the 25 man roster for one of them, with Bobby Wilson's DFA earlier today opening up a second roster spot.
The optioning of Gallo was, I think, expected, given this move, and he can spend the next month-plus in Round Rock working on things and mashing AAA pitchers before being brought back up in September as a bench bat. Hopefully he will see his presence in the organization today as an indication he's in the team's long-term plans, and is being planned on to be the starting first baseman next year.
Meanwhile, Jeremy Jeffress is not reporting until Wednesday. I suspect the fact that Jeffress pitched three straight days this weekend might have something to do with that, since reporting Wednesday gives him an extra day of rest after that, and allows the Rangers to keep an extra arm in the pen for Tuesday's game.
