Shin-Soo Choo fractures arm, out indefinitely

Shin-Soo Choo will be heading back to the disabled list after fracturing his left forearm on a HBP

Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports

Shin-Soo Choo, Texas Rangers outfielder, suffered a fractured left forearm in today's game, after being hit by a Ross Detwiler pitch.

Its just the latest injury for the snakebit Choo, who will be heading for the disabled list for the fourth time this season -- twice with strained leg muscles, once with a back problem, and now with the broken arm.

It seems unlikely that Choo would return before the playoffs, at the earliest, and even the playoffs may be overly optimistic.  In the meantime, the Rangers will presumably recall Ryan Rua, who was optioned when Drew Stubbs returned from the disabled list, to take Choo's place, although going with Joey Gallo in Choo's absence is also a possibility.

UPDATE -- Ryan Rua was pulled from the Round Rock lineup mid-game, so it appears he will be replacing Choo on the active roster.
