Lucas Harrell to the d.l., Nick Martinez up

Lucas Harrell has been placed on the disabled list, and Nick Martinez has been recalled

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

The Texas Rangers have placed pitcher Lucas Harrell on the 15 day disabled list with a groin strain, which he suffered in yesterday's game.  Replacing him on the 25 man roster is Nick Martinez, who has been recalled, and who will be a long man for the Rangers for the time being.

It appears likely that the Rangers will end up activating Derek Holland to take Harrell's spot in the rotation, with the question being when he will do so.  The Rangers have an off day tomorrow, and then another one on Monday, so theoretically, the Rangers wouldn't have to use a fifth starter until August 27, which would allow Holland to make another rehab start.  Alternatively, the Rangers could go ahead and activate him early next week, giving their other starters extra rest and allowing him to start against the Cincinnati Reds in Cincinnati on either Tuesday or Wednesday, which Evan Grant tweeted sounds likely.
