Saturday, July 10, 2010, 7:25PM - Cliff Lee makes his debut with the Texas Ranger and pitches a complete game but also allows six runs as the Rangers lost 6-1 to the Baltimore Orioles.
Saturday, August 1, 2015 - Cole Hamels makes his debut with the Texas Rangers and pitches 7 2/3 innings but also allows five runs as the Rangers lost 9-7 to the San Francisco Giants as Sam Dyson allows the eventual go-ahead home run in the 11th inning in his Rangers debut.
Tuesday, August 2 2016 - Jonathan Lucroy and Carlos Beltran make their debut with the Texas Rangers and promptly go a combined 0-for-6 as the Rangers go 5 2/3 innings before collecting their first hit and lose 5-1 to the Baltimore Orioles.
The Rangers are really bad at cashing in on acquisition hype.
Player of the Game: Yu Darvish had some of his best stuff and also got bit by the Colby Lewis solo home run bug but he was easily the best Ranger on the field as he went 6 1/3 innings and allowed three solo shots while striking out nine and walking just one Oriole. The Orioles didn't score of Darvish until the 5th inning and at that point, the Rangers hadn't even mustered a single hit on offense.
The Rangers have now scored a total of 5 runs of support for Yu Darvish in his last six starts and they've lost each one of those games. It is the opposite of fun. The Rangers won a game started by Lucas Harrell but couldn't muster a single dang run while Yu Darvish was pitching tonight.
Up Next: The Rangers and Orioles play the second game of this series with Cole Hamels pitching against RHP Kevin Gausman. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 pm CT.
