Derek Holland, who has been on the disabled list since mid-June with shoulder inflammation, made a rehab start for Round Rock tonight, his first outing since going on the d.l. Holland threw 28 pitches over 2 shutout innings, giving up 1 hit and 1 walk, striking out 2. 16 of the 28 pitches he threw were for strikes.
Holland seems likely to make four more rehab starts, which would put him on schedule to return to the majors at the end of August, or more likely on September 1 when rosters expand. Holland and Colby Lewis are both on the disabled list currently, and Lewis is likely to replace Lucas Harrell in the rotation when he is ready. Holland, meanwhile, could replace A.J. Griffin, or could end up in the bullpen.
