Baseball America has their top 20 prospect list out for the Northwest League, and Leody Taveras is the #1 prospect on their list. The 17 year old switch-hitting center fielder was the prize of the Rangers' 2015 J-2 class, and was also named the #1 prospect on the BA AZL top 20 list. BA praises the tools, saying he "projects as a center fielder with value on both sides of the ball."
Also cracking the top 20 list was Anderson Tejeda, at #4, and Tyler Ferguson, at #19. Tejeda, 18, is a shortstop who also was on the AZL top 20, and showed impressive power from the left side while putting up a .277/.313/.553 slash line for Spokane. Ferguson, 22, is a hard-throwing righthanded who the Rangers selected in the 6th round of the 2015 draft out of Vanderbilt, and who has great stuff, but has also battled control issues. Ferguson struck out 46 batters against just 10 walks in 30.1 IP for Spokane, though he struggled once he was promoted to low-A Hickory.
