Baseball America has their top 20 prospect list for the South Atlantic League out today, and the Rangers place just one prospect on the list — 21 year old lefthander Joe Palumbo, who comes in at #20.

Palumbo has largely flown under the radar for Rangers fans — he was a 30th round draft pick in 2013 out of West Islip High School in Long Island, but he put up a 2.24 ERA in 96 innings splitting time between the rotation and the bullpen for Hickory this year, and BA says he was touching 96 mph with his fastball and has a plus curveball.

I’m not sure I’d have Palumbo as the top prospect on the Hickory team this year -- I’d slot Eric Jenkins and Yeyson Yrizarri ahead of him, as well as Brett Martin and Pedro Payano — but its a nice honor for Palumbo to make the list. He’s someone to keep an eye on next season, when he will likely be at the Rangers’ new high-A affiliate in Kinston, North Carolina.
