The Texas Rangers have recalled righthanded pitcher Jose Leclerc, per John Blake on Twitter. Leclerc was already on the 40 man roster, and the 25 man roster limit isn't in place for September, so no corresponding move was necessary.
Leclerc had a brief stint in the majors earlier this season, pitching 5.2 IP over 3 games, walking 8 and striking out 5, allowing 2 runs (1 earned). Leclerc throws hard but his control is lacking -- in 66 innings in AA and AAA this year, he has 78 strikeouts against 38 walks, with a 3.00 ERA.
Leclerc gives the Rangers another hard-throwing option in the bullpen, though he most likely is going to be used in low-leverage situations this month. With Leclerc up, the Rangers' active roster is now at 30.
