Tyson Ross is a Texas Ranger, officially. John Blake tweeted this afternoon that Ross has officially been signed to a one year contract by the Rangers. To make room for Ross on the 40 man roster, the Rangers have designated Brady Dragmire for assignment.
The beat guys are saying Ross is getting $6 million guaranteed with another $3 million in incentives. Not sure what the incentives are, but it sounds like Ross is expected to start the season on the disabled list.
Dragmire, meanwhile, has been DFA’d for the second time this offseason by the Rangers, who will try to sneak him through waivers and outright him.
I’m not sure what more there is to say about this...we heard almost a week ago that a deal was done, and its apparently just taken a while to get the physical taken. Two weeks ago, when talks were “heating up,” I offered some thoughts about Ross, and I’m not sure what to add to those at this point. He misses a lot of bats, gets ground balls, walks a fair amount of guys, and is an injury risk.
In any case, we can now wait on pins and needles to see what happens with Brady Dragmire this time.
