Texas Rangers trade rumors: The Tampa Bay Rays have “checked in” on infielder Jurickson Profar, according to Evan Grant, although nothing appears to be happening on that front at this point.
The Rays just sent second baseman Logan Forsythe to the Dodgers, potentially opening up a spot that could be filled by Profar, but Evan says the Rays shot down a Profar for Jake Odorizzi deal last summer. It seems unlikely that the Rangers would be able to get what they feel like Profar is worth from the Rays (or, most likely, anyone else), so I suspect he will be a Ranger to start the season.
So its an area where there seems to be talking and feeling out interest and not anything is likely to happen, though it may be that this could lay the groundwork for a deal later this summer, should the Rangers be buyers.
Also, it would be nice to have a Rangers rumor at some point that has to do with someone other than Mike Napoli and Jurickson Profar (or Tyson Ross before he signed), but I’m not holding my breath.
