New York Mets hire Mickey Callaway as manager, per reports

The New York Mets are reportedly hiring Indians pitching coach Mickey Callaway as their new manager

Texas Rangers

The New York Mets are hiring as their manager Mickey Callaway, former Texas Rangers pitcher and current Cleveland Indians pitching coach, per reports.

Callaway joined the Indians organization in 2010 as a minor league pitching coach and worked his way up the ranks. The Indians made it to the World Series last year and won 102 games in 2017, due in no small part to a potent pitching staff that led the A.L. in ERA this season.

Callaway will be replacing Terry Collins, who was fired at the end of the 2017 season. He will have an intriguing, if injury-plagued, collection of arms to work with in New York.
