Texas Rangers (kind of) place one on Pioneer League top 20 prospect list

The Baseball America top 20 prospect list for the Pioneer League includes a player who was traded to Texas

The Texas Rangers don’t have an affiliate in the rookie Pioneer League, but they still ended up with a prospect making the Baseball America Top 20 prospect list for the league, as Pedro Gonzalez, the outfielder they acquired from the Rockies in the Jonathan Lucroy trade, checks in at #7 on the list from his time in the Colorado organization.

The 19 year old Gonzalez is an intriguing prospect, a tall, skinny (6’5”, 190 lb) righthanded hitting centerfielder who was a big money signing out of Latin America a few years back, a guy with tools who has started to translate them into skills. With Leody Taveras, Bubba Thompson and Miguel Aparicio, he gives the Rangers a nice collection of teenage center field prospects who will be fun to follow over the next few years.
