MLB Rumors: Shohei Ohtani, Nippon Ham Fighters pitcher and hitter extraordinaire, is being posted by the Ham Fighters, per reports today out of Japan. Assuming that’s the case, Ohtani will be eligible to negotiate with any team willing to pay the expected maximum posting fee of $20 million, and sign with an MLB to come to the United States in 2018.

We wrote about Ohtani yesterday, and I don’t know that there’s really much to add to what we said there. Ohtani was expected to come to the United States for the 2018 season, and now apparently will be posted, which means that he’ll be in the U.S. in 2018, assuming he can agree to a deal with an MLB team, under the limitations of the international bonus pool system.

Now we just see if the Texas Rangers can figure out a way to land him.
