Tuesday Morning Texas Rangers Update

Now is the winter of our discontent

MLB: Houston Astros at Texas Rangers Jim Cowsert-USA TODAY Sports

Good morning.

Jeff Wilson writes about the acquisition of Matt Moore who is looking to bounce back from a poor 2017 season after years of promise.

Evan Grant writes that the Rangers have been hungry to acquire Moore ever since he shut them down in Game 1 of the 2011 ALDS.

Levi Weaver spoke with Moore who has some pretty honest and interesting responses to what went wrong in 2017 and what he plans to do about it in 2018.

T.R. Sullivan writes that Moore (the Rangers are counting on it) and Matt Bush (the Rangers are probably hoping it isn’t necessary) could make an impact in the rotation in 2018.

Fangraphs’ Craig Edwards analyzes the Moore trade and determines that it makes sense for both the Rangers and Giants given where each team is currently at.

Kevin Casas writes that members of the Rangers met for their annual visit to Cook Children’s Medical Center to deliver gifts and spread holiday cheer.

Speaking of being on Santa’s Nice List, Sullivan notes that Cole Hamels has donated his home and 100 acres in Missouri to a charity supporting individuals with special needs.

In free agency news, Carrie Muskat writes that the Cubs are making a play for Yu Darvish after visiting him in Dallas.

And, lastly, Weaver tries his hand at a Rangers Mailbag which of course becomes a forum for smoldering Cole Hamels beard takes.

Have a nice day.
