Baseball America’s top 100 prospect list was released last night, and only one Ranger made the cut — outfielder Leody Taveras, at #47. Taveras is generally considered to be one of the Rangers top three prospects (and seems to be the consensus #1 guy), and while the other two of that group, Yohander Mendez and Ariel Jurado, have gotten top 100 consideration this offseason, they apparently didn’t rate high enough to make BA’s cut.

BA is high on former Ranger outfielder Lewis Brinson, who went to the Brewers in the Jonathan Lucroy deal -- Brinson is #27 on their list. Jorge Alfaro is #41, while Luis Ortiz is #79.

Somewhat noteworthy as well is the highly regarded former Rangers prospect who didn’t make the cut. Nick Williams, the outfielder sent to the Phillies as part of the Cole Hamels deal, was #27 in BA’s top 100 heading into the 2016 season, but after a rough campaign, did not make the list this year. Dillon Tate, #69 before the 2016 season, also didn’t make the cut, although that’s less surprising, given his well-publicized struggles in 2016.
