Mike Napoli, Texas Ranger is now a done deal, as John Blake has tweeted that the Rangers have officially signed the free agent first baseman to a one year deal with a club option for 2018. It was reported last night that the terms of the deal are $6 million for 2017, with an $11 million club option for 2018 that includes a $2.5 million buyout.

This has been in the works for a while, and was apparently agreed to last week, with Napoli taking his physical yesterday, and the announcement and press conference taking place this morning, as I type this.

Napoli will presumably get the bulk of the playing time at first base, or possibly DH, depending on how the rest of the roster and the amount of time Shin-Soo Choo gets at DH plays out. Napoli will almost certainly play against just about all lefthanders, as well as quite a few righthanders.

Napoli will be wearing #5 for the Rangers. With Napoli being signed, the 40 man roster is now full.
