Friday morning Rangers news and links

MLB: Houston Astros at Texas Rangers Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

Good morning, folks...

Mike Napoli is officially a member of the Texas Rangers.

Napoli said, at his press conference, that Texas “is where I wanted to be.”

Joey Gallo feels he has an opportunity to seize a major league job, despite the Rangers signing Mike Napoli.

Gallo is one of several players whose role on the 2017 Rangers has been impacted by the Napoli signing.

Evan Grant writes that the Napoli deal means more time at DH for Shin-Soo Choo, and goes through the “ripple effects” of Napoli being added.

James Loney still has a shot at making the team as a platoon partner for Napoli.

Josh Hamilton, fighting for a bench spot, considered retirement last year. Evan says that if Hamilton can still hit, the Rangers will find a spot for him.

In non-Napoli related items, Evan has an in-depth piece looking at Matt Bush re-building his life after spending time in prison and almost killing someone.

And Gerry Fraley takes a look at Yohander Mendez.
