Ian Desmond has a broken hand

Ian Desmond suffered a broken left hand, which will sideline him indefinitely

MLB: Los Angeles Angels at Texas Rangers Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

Ian Desmond, Texas Rangers outfielder in 2016 and Colorado Rockies first baseman for 2017 and the future, has suffered a broken left hand. This will presumably sideline him for a couple of months. Desmond suffered the injury on a hit by pitch in the fourth inning of today’s exhibition game.

Bad news for a guy who came to Texas on a one year, make good deal and was an instrumental part of last year’s division title team, making the All Star team and earning a big dollar contract from the Rockies in free agency. Pretty much everyone who has dealt with Desmond has good things to say about him, and he was credited for being a great teammate and leader for the Rangers last year.

Here’s hoping he has a speedy recovery.
