Texas Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre is day to day with a calf strain after having an MRI on Monday, per the beat guys. Beltre is not ready for game action right now, but is expected to be ready for Opening Day.
Evan Grant writes that the Rangers need to consider putting Beltre on the d.l. to start the season, and with the new 10 day disabled list, that would (if my math is right) put him on track to be activated on Sunday, April 9, resulting in him missing just five games. That said, I don’t think Beltre is going to want to be on the d.l. to start the year, and so I’m not expecting that move.
Tanner Scheppers is also “up in the air”, per T.R. Sullivan, and it does appear likely that he would start the season on the disabled list.
