Adrian Beltre has announced that he will play in the first round of the WBC for the Dominican Republic, per the beat guys on Twitter.

Beltre suffered a calf strain early in camp that had initial reports indicating he was unlikely to play before the second round — if then — but as we all know, Beltre is an inhuman baseball playing machine and, after playing in a couple of spring games over the weekend for the Rangers, he’s pronounced himself ready to go.

The D.R. is in Pool C, and their games will be at Marlins Park in Miami. The D.R. plays Canada on March 9, the USA on March 11 and Colombia on March 12.
