Adrian Beltre will start the 2017 season on the disabled list, according to Jeff Banister, via the beat guys on Twitter.
Beltre has been dealing with a calf strain, and had expressed the hope he would be ready for Opening Day, but the Rangers are apparently erring on the side of caution. With the new ten day disabled list, Beltre would be eligible to return Sunday, April 9, if I'm doing my math right. Disabled list trips can be back dated to Thursday, March 30.
With Beltre starting the season on the disabled list, Joey Gallo will apparently be the team’s starting third baseman to begin the season.
