Texas Rangers righthanded pitcher Matt Bush is returning to Arlington to be examined by Dr. Keith Meister due to pain in his AC joint in his shoulder, per Evan Grant on Twitter.
Bush wasn’t available for yesterday’s game, and apparently will be on the shelf until at least Friday, per Grant, though there are no plans for a d.l. move yet. Jeff Wilson says that Bush is going to get an injection for the issue.
So the piece I just wrote about Dyson, where I said what the Rangers need is the non-Dyson parts of the pen to be healthy and productive, just got a big asterisk, as Bush — the team’s best reliever, realistically -- isn’t right right now. With Dyson struggling, my guess is that the Rangers activate Tanner Scheppers from the d.l. tonight, and send Drew Robinson down. Robinson was likely going down on Saturday anyway to get a starting pitcher up, and going with a three man bench in the meantime shouldn’t be an issue.
