The Texas Rangers have placed pitcher A.J. Griffin on the disabled list with gout in his left ankle, per John Blake on Twitter. No corresponding move has been announced — the Rangers are currently at 24 on the active roster. In addition, no starting pitcher for tomorrow’s game, which Griffin had been scheduled to start, has been announced.
So, that’s where we are. We have players going on the d.l. with gout now.
In any case, Nick Martinez last pitched on April 17 for Round Rock, so he would seem to be the obvious choice to come up and make the start tomorrow. Dillon Gee last started on April 18, so he would not seem to be an option.
