Opening Day Texas Rangers Update

The latest news and notes on the back-to-back American League West Champion Texas Rangers

MLB: Seattle Mariners at Texas Rangers Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

Good morning. Today is the real Opening Day and the Rangers are kicking things off with one of their best commercials in a while. In a Baader-Meinhof Phenomenon moment for me, I finally got around to watching Stranger Things for the first time in one go on Saturday night. Now Texas presents Ranger Things.

Stefan Stevenson writes about the Rangers getting things kicked off with a matchup against the American League Champion Cleveland Indians.

Anthony Castrovince previews today’s opener which features a duel of aces between Yu Darvish and Corey Kluber.

Stevenson writes that Darvish is ready for his first Opening Day start in what he hopes is a special season.

Joe Trahan writes that the AL West Champion Rangers are prepared for the 162 game grind to get underway.

Evan Grant wonders if this is the last year for the window of opportunity with this group of Rangers.

Jeff Wilson writes that Jon Daniels and the Rangers aren’t buying the all or nothing narrative.

Jim Bowden asked each MLB GM about their biggest concern and JD is most worried about depth.

T.R. Sullivan writes that the Rangers will go day by day to determine which of their three-headed left field monster will play.

Samuel Hale writes that, since the Mets don’t seem to want him, maybe the Rangers should acquire Nomar Mazara clone Michael Conforto.

Wilson writes that Joey Gallo is making strides as he makes his first Opening Day start.

Sullivan notes that rookie Jose Leclerc is excited to be on the 25-man roster especially since he didn’t see it coming.

Stevenson writes that Drew Robinson, on the other hand, seemed to believe in the possibility and went out and quietly earned a spot this spring.

Gil LeBreton says screw the projections and prognosticators, the Rangers are still good.

And, lastly, here’s a look at the 2017 walkup music for some of the Rangers including Drew Robinson opting for Humpty Dance by Digital Underground whenever he makes his MLB debut.

Have a great Opening Day!
