0-1 - Regression gets last Opening Day laugh on Rangers

Rougned Odor hit two bombs but Yu and the bullpen couldn't lock down a 5-1 lead in Opening Day loss

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

Are you happy, Regression Gods? The Rangers were up 5-1 on Opening Day and launching bombs off Cleveland Indians starter Corey Kluber before the Indians scored a couple of weird ones and came all the way back in the late innings. A three-run 9th off Sam Dyson made it 8-5 and out of reach for Texas.

All offseason we heard about how the Rangers couldn't possibly keep up their one-run and late innings wizardry and with one game in the books, that narrative will live for at least another day. So there you go, Regression. You've had your fun. Give us back our annoying walkoff wins, please.

Player of the Game: Rougned Odor. Two horses. Two dongs.

Up Next: Take down the bunting and get to business. The Rangers and Indians begin the grind with the second game of this series and season. LHP Martin Perez will make the start for Texas against RHP Carlos Carrasco First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm CT.
