The Houston Astros have placed starting pitcher Dallas Keuchel on the 10 day disabled list with a pinched nerve in his neck. Keuchel has been arguably the best pitcher in the A.L. this season, putting up a 1.84 ERA in 63.2 IP over 9 starts.
If Keuchel were to miss a significant period of time, this could impact the A.L. West race, where the Astros are currently up 6.5 games on the second place Texas Rangers. However, initial reports indicate that Keuchel is expected to be on the minimum 10 days and miss just one start. That would have him off the d.l. before the Astros’ series at Texas from June 2-4, though it remains to be seen whether his spot in the rotation would come up during that weekend series.
