Texas Rangers rumors: Keith Law’s latest mock draft has the Rangers going with toolsy, athletic Alabama high school outfielder Bubba Thompson with their selection at #26. Law also mentions that the Rangers have been linked with Steven Jennings, a high school pitcher out of Tennessee who tore his ACL in the fall playing football.
Both Jennings and Thompson are also quarterbacks — Thompson has a scholarship offer from Alabama to play football, although it appears unlikely he’ll end up using it rather than going pro in baseball. Texas does love athleticism, both in their position players and in their pitchers, so their interest in Thompson and Jennings makes sense, and Thompson going at #26 and Jennings at #29 is a definitely possibility.
We did a write-up of Thompson that you can check out here.
